Help Us Preserve Our Theater
In 1926, Chatham businessman Walter S. Crandell opened the first movie theater in Columbia County. Two generations of the Quirino family have owned and operated the Crandell since 1960 and now they would like to put the future of Chatham’s beloved theater in the proven hands of the Chatham Film Club, sponsor of the FilmColumbia festival and monthly independent film screenings.

Our plan is to purchase the theater, continue running the existing family-oriented movie business, build upon our commitment to art and independent film, and preserve an important part of Main Street. We invite you to join our capital campaign.

We Need Your Help
Our task is challenging. We are raising $1.5 million to fund the purchase of the building and business, to complete necessary renovations and to secure the future of the theater.
